Pickling

For metals, the pickling of the surfaces is produced by a chemical etching. This serves to protect the metal surface from oxides. Pickling is used in various manufacturing processes in metal processing to remove applied metal layers or to create an oxide-free surface. For example, in the production of cold-rolled steel strips, burn-off is removed by pickling. When bonding aluminium parts, pickling is also used as a preliminary process to create long-lasting, stable joints. Emil Otto’s pickling products can be used for most metals and are available in different packaging sizes.
